Otis Wade was born in Grenada, in the fishing village of Gouyave. Otis migrated to the US at the age of 12 to live with his mother in Brooklyn, New York. While in college, Otis enlisted in the US Air Force and relocated to Texas, where he met his wonderful wife, Amy. After 21 years of military life, Otis was honorably discharged from the US Air Force. Otis built a successful career in IT and was the Director of Information Management Services for Three Rivers Casino for 10 years. Otis never forgot his Grenadian heritage, returning to Grenada several times with his wife and three girls, to ensure they developed a love for the food, culture, and his fellow Grenadians.
In 2014, Otis and Amy made the decision to fulfill Otis’ dream of returning home to Grenada and giving back to the island that held his heart. In order to be “all in”, they sold their house and most of their belongings, so they wouldn’t have any excuse to give up when things got tough. Within a few months of returning home, Otis and Amy created the Heritage Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to organizing volunteers and implementing community service throughout Grenada. Heritage Foundation helps volunteers share their skills and services with schools and communities, thereby improving quality of life, encouraging education, teaching self-reliance and the importance of helping one another. Otis is also a member of the Rotary Club of Grenada, where he has served as a member of the board of directors for three plus years.

Tammy enjoys living in the Pacific Northwest and loves all things Disney. Her family is her biggest inspiration. Enjoying her children and first grandchild is a complete joy! Tammy has a great love for travel, which has only magnified her desire to serve others internationally.
A humanitarian trip to Ecuador is where Tammy first knew that this type of service was going to be a major part of her life. Tammy uses her organizational skills to help keep Spice Isle Smiles running smoothly - especially during the days working at elementary schools in Grenada. Tammy mentioned, "The best part about these trips is making connections with the children. The hugs and trust from them let us know we are doing something good! It is such a privilege to serve these children.”

In 2004, Royce Holmes had the opportunity to join a LEGO Robotics programming class at his middle school. This sparked an interest in programming and technology that developed into a successful software programming career at Microsoft. From this, Royce learned the power of simple opportunities, and through teaching LEGO Robotics classes at NEWLO is working on providing that opportunity to others.

Jill Rich grew up in Brigham City, Utah, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1987. After spending two years as a nanny in Boston, where she discovered her love for working with children, she attended Utah State University and served 18 months as a missionary in Frankfurt, Germany for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There she met her husband Brett, also a missionary, and they married in Salt Lake City in 1993. Jill and Brett currently live in Syracuse, Utah and have four children. They're expecting their first grandchild in April.
Through her career with the airlines, particularly at JetBlue, Jill became interested in Grenada through a coworker and her brother Chad, who serves on the Spice Isle Smiles Board. She initially helped by securing donated flights for volunteers, then she and Brett joined the 2024 Humanitarian Trip as volunteers themselves. They fell in love with the children and have returned every year since.
Jill has taken the lead in gathering donations for goodie bags—containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, timers, chapstick, and toys—for nearly 1,200 children on each trip. She also serves her community through her church, working with youth and serving in the Syracuse Temple.
The work with Spice Isle Smiles has transformed Jill's perspective on life, making her grateful for available dental care in the US and for the opportunity to help the children of Grenada.
